After cutting my teeth on hip-hop throughout the 80’s, I got into 808 State through a friend of mine in 1990. Pretty soon after that, I started snapping up as many cds and tapes as I could with underground dance artists as I could - SL2, Altern-8, Kicks Like a Mule, those Kaos Theory Compilations, Kickin' Records compilations...you name it, I'd get it. I had to learn as much as I could about this newly emerging music and its culture. Strangely I didn't start clubbing until the 1995, some five years after I got into 'Rave' music. I spent about three years hitting as many clubs & parties in Central Florida as possible, soaking up as many different musical styles as I could.

One point that I gained from clubbing and from rave culture is that old punk ethos, D.I.Y. After I quit clubbing, I knew that I wanted to stay connected to the essence of what got me in the club in the first place-the music. What I heard played the least while clubbing was what I wanted to be musically involved in the most - I wanted to play Drum & Bass. I started buying record, and then saved up enough money to purchase turntables. I began practicing with the same fervency that got me into the music in the first place.

Since 1999 I've made nearly 60 drum & bass compilations. I began my mix tape outings under the Osiris alias, mainly due to my love of the Wu-Tang Clan’s Ol’ Dirty Bastard (AKA Osiris). After moving to Bloomington, IN (to complete a degree in Art History), I started a radio show called ‘The Saturday Nite Rinseout’ at WFHB 90.1 that ran for a year from October of 1999 to October 2000. I have also been featured at club dates and raves such as Sagittarius in Indianapolis and Ultra Violet in Bloomington as well as loads of house parties. 2001 was a great year personally – the crowning achievement being the Decksterity International Winner Award in Knowledge UK (see below). 2003 also saw the founding of the bimonthly Resonate Saturdaze nite in Chicago, which kept in step with funky and soulful musical vibes of all genres but focusing primarily on drum & bass.

I now reside in Tampa, Florida, where I've been since 2004 after moving from Chicago. I think being in Tampa has given me an opportunity to retool my philosophy about pursuring my own musical goals & has helped me re-focus my energy into my work. Less distraction means more time to focus on what really matters, and my mixing, craft and focus on creativity greatly improved.

After spending three years learning about graphic design & web implementation, the launch of Skrub Audio signifies a new beginning with an emphasis of bringing together the many pieces of the creative puzzle that have been collected over the past 15 years-Art, Design, Philosophy and Music.

INTERNATIONAL WINNER 1
NAME: SEANIE MACK
DJ NAME: OSIRIS
HOMETOWN: CHICAGO, USA
DJING FOR: 4 YEARS

Once again we're stateside, rollin with the d&b vibez as supplied by Osiris. An ex-radio DJ in the field of jazz, reggae, hip hop and drum & bass, Seanie Mack is in the process of - oh yes - building a studio and accompanying website...which will feature downloadable mixes from the man himself. Here, we find Osiris in the mix on two CDs of outstanding quality, entitled 'Cosmic Slop' and 'Black Power'. Both are on a similar dark-edged, rollin tip with a nice balance of old skool noize and classy vocal; the tuffness supplied by the likes of Digital, Full Cycle and Hardware, sandwiched around recent cuts from JMajik, Intalex and Aquasky. The overall effect is undeniably rooted in the dancehall, although it makes for quality home listening material too…promoters - you know what's up! Put the man on big dog style...
